Five of the six databases on NPIRS are based on federal data. Databases include: Federal Pesticide Product; Pesticide Document Management System (PDMS); Tolerance Index; Data Submitters List; and Federal Register. Federal data is linked to stata data using the EPA registration number. State Pesticide Product on NPIRS is a segue to state data.

NSPIRS is based on state data. State data is linked to federal data using the EPA registration number. There is one additional database on NSPIRS, Tolerance Index. State Data Providers, Government Agencies, and Universities subscribing to NSPIRS may subscribe to two additional federal databases in NPIRS.

The EPA dictionaries, used to identify keywords instrumental to successful searching, are available on NPIRS, NSPIRS, and NPIRSInfo.

NPIRS and NSPIRS include company and distributor product listings. The EPA registration number is used to create various federal lists while the state abbreviation in addition to other keywords are used to create state lists.

For a fee, the NPIRS staff performs searches for individuals or organizations.

NPIRS and NSPIRS training is conducted in a variety of ways: interactively over the internet, by phone, and in person at your organization or at our national conference.
